AHRC to cut PhD studentships by a quarter in major shake-up

Arts and humanities funder announces changes to doctoral provision to establish a “sustainable, balanced portfolio”

The Arts and Humanities Research Council is cutting the number of its studentships by a quarter as part of major changes to its doctoral provision.

In an announcement on 20 September, the AHRC said it expected to fund around 300 PhD students a year by 2029-30, down from 425.
