Report reveals funding was £110 million lower in real terms in 2022 than in 2018

There has been a “small but worrying” decline in the UK’s health research funding from the public sector and charities, a report has revealed.

The UK’s £4.2 billion spending on health research in 2022 was £110 million lower in real terms than in 2018, according to the report published by the Medical Research Council (MRC) on 1 February.
