UKRI chief makes case for diversity in research career paths

Ottoline Leyser says existing assessment criteria are “impoverished”, calling for more pathways into sector

The chief executive of UK Research and Innovation has made a strong call for increasing the diversity of career paths into research, saying the current system is “impoverished”.

Ottoline Leyser was speaking at an event about research careers on 23 April, alongside an international meeting of science ministers from countries in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
