Farthing warns over White Paper research omissions

The chairman of the 1994 Group has attacked the government’s plans to reform higher education as lacking ambition and risking turning students into consumers.

In his first speech as chairman, Michael Farthing, vice-chancellor of Sussex University, criticised the lack of attention given to research in the government’s reforms.
