More female professors, but numbers still low

Data published by the Higher Education Statistics Agency show that the number of female professors in UK universities rose 4.1 per cent in 2010.

According to the figures, published on 19 January, 3,455 professors were women in 2010. However, women still form only 19.8 per cent of the total.
