Boost for spin-outs from £150m venture fund

The technology fund management company MTI is expanding its presence among UK universities with the launch of a £150 million fund for researchers who want to commercialise new technologies.

The fund, announced on 10 February, will be available to the University of Edinburgh, University College London and the University of Manchester, where MTI is already well-established. In 2008 it created a £32m fund, which at the time was the largest in Europe focusing on a single university. Twelve spin-out companies have resulted from this fund.
