Mission groups relieved by Willetts’ migration stance

University groups have come out in support of the announcement that the government intends to report overseas student numbers separately within net migration statistics.

“Disaggregating the data on student numbers from immigration figures is a step in the right direction”, said Wendy Piatt, director general of the Russell Group. “We also hope this heralds a move to take students out of the immigration target altogether.”
