The University of Buckingham, the UK’s first private university of modern times, has teamed up with the Leicester Dental Teaching Academy to launch an independent dental school, which it says will be “aimed at a global market”.

The school, to be located in Leicester, will take 100 students a year starting September 2013. It will offer a five-year bachelor degree in dental surgery, to be awarded by the university. Students will also receive training in patient care, business development and management.
