Data from the Higher Education Statistics Agency show that the number of qualifications obtained from higher education institutions has risen by 17.1 per cent over the five years from 2006-7 to 2010-11.
However, computer science saw a drop of 0.5 per cent in the same period. Subjects allied to medicine also fell, by 1.4 per cent. All other science subjects rose, with architecture, building and planning experiencing an increase of nearly one-third.
