Aston to create research intensive university in Vietnam

Aston University has announced plans to establish a university in Vietnam.

This is the result of an agreement signed by universities minister David Willetts and Tran Quang Quy, Vietnam’s deputy minister of education and training. The research-intensive institution will be based within Vietnam’s University of Danang.

A spokesman for Aston University told Research Fortnight it intends to involve other universities, particularly those with engineering and business specialisms.

Aston has also been looking into the possibility of partnerships with firms including Rolls Royce and IBM.
