School league tables measuring pupils’ A-level grades in what are described as ‘facilitating subjects’ should not be considered as a measure of the number of pupils in a school qualified to apply to a Russell Group university, says its director general.
Wendy Piatt said the Russell Group of research-intensive universities welcomes the publication of information about ‘facilitating subjects’—those most commonly required for entry to these universities—and agreed that “A-level choices really matter”.
