Masters degrees benefit Treasury and individuals—but women lose out

The benefit of a masters degree is around £18,000 less for women than men, a report from the universities group Million+ has found.

In its assessment of the economic benefits of higher education, ‘What’s the Value of a UK Degree?’, published on 17 January, Million+ found that, over their lifetimes, women with a masters degree stood to gain an extra £44,000, compared to someone with an undergraduate degree. For men the figure was £62,000.
