UCU members support strike

Members of the University and College Union who work in higher education have voted in favour of strike action over falling salaries.

According to the union, those members have not received a “meaningful” pay increase since 2008 and have seen their pay drop by 13 per cent in real terms.

Strike action is supported by 62 per cent of voters, with 77 per cent voting in favour of action short of a strike. This could include refusing to work unpaid overtime.
