Sussex protesters attract prominent supporters

Celebrity academics including US linguist Noam Chomsky and several UK MPs have given their support to a protest against plans to privatise jobs at the University of Sussex.

The campaign group, Sussex Against Privatization, made up of workers at the university, says it has received “solidarity statements” from more than 200 people. Supporters include the local Green party MP for Brighton Caroline Lucas, actor and film director Peter Capaldi, public intellectual Jonathan Miller, and John McDonnell, Labour MP for Hayes and Harlington.
