Statistics for UK undergraduate admissions to the University of Oxford in 2011 have revealed that black and other minority ethnic groups had a lower than average chance of winning a place.
The data show that the total success rate for all applicants to Oxford stood at 22.6 per cent in 2011, but the rate of entry for students of Pakistani and Bangladeshi origin was just 4.9 per cent and 9.9 per cent. Similarly, the success rate for black African students, Chinese and Indian students was 12.8 per cent, 13.6 per cent and 14.4 per cent.
