Ex-Lincoln VC and Tory peer to probe private provider possibilities

The Higher Education Commission is to study regulation and entry of for-profit organisations into higher education in a project led by Conservative peer Philip Norton and Roger King, former vice-chancellor of the University of Lincoln.

The commission is independent of government and comprises 20 figures from education, business and the three largest political parties.

The review will consider the government’s plans to allow new organisations to provide higher education.
