Toni Pearce has been named as the National Union of Students’ next president.
Pearce, the union’s vice-president for further education, was elected at the NUS national conference in Sheffield. She will be the first NUS president who has not attended university.
According to her manifesto, Pearce’s priorities will include linking further education college and university unions for local campaigning ahead of the next general election, and campaigning for a single central admissions system for all universities and colleges.
