Scottish funding chief moves to Abertay

Mark Batho, chief executive of the Scottish Funding Council, has been appointed vice-principal of university services at Abertay University, in Dundee.

Batho will start his new role at the university in September, but his last day at the SFC will be 25 April. The council’s senior director of skills, research and knowledge exchange Laurence Howells will take over as interim chief executive.

The SFC said in a statement on 23 April that it would “take immediate steps to start planning for the appointment of a permanent successor”.
