South-west university alliance has inaugural meeting

GW4, the shared infrastructure and research project which brings the universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter together with other research groups in the south-west, has been officially launched at the House of Commons.

The alliance has been active for 18 months but a spokesperson said it had not been possible to get everybody involved in the same room until this point.

At the 29 October event, hosted by the secretary of state for Wales, Jennifer Randerson, participants looked back at the first 35 projects to have been funded, which ranged from medieval history to environmental science. The alliance has so far awarded more than £650,000 to applicants.
