Liverpool begins work on materials innovation facility

Work has begun on a £65-million Materials Innovation Factory at the University of Liverpool, which is set to open in 2016.

The chemistry facility is the result of a collaboration between the university and the consumer goods company Unilever. It will house a total of 250 researchers when it opens.

The aim of the facility is to research new materials with the potential to save energy and natural resources, to improve health as weak as to reduce product development times for Unielver’s Home Care and Personal Care categories.
