The Higher Education Funding Council for England has announced it has chosen an internal candidate as its next director of finance.
Nolan Smith, HEFCE’s head of finance and investment, will take up the position on 1 May.
An accountant by training, Smith joined HEFCE in 2000 after working in the leisure industry. He will take on responsibility for the Finance and Funding Directorate, which oversees distribution of government funding for higher education in England.
