The University and College Union has said that it is holding out for a higher pay rise than the 0.9 per cent offered by the Universities and Colleges Employers Association in the latest round of university salary negotiations in the UK.
In a statement released on 27 April, the UCU said that higher education employers could afford to pay more, and added that sections of a proposed deal relating to equality had yet to be addressed.
Michael MacNeil, head of bargaining for the UCU, said that the UCEA “needs to review its position ahead of the final meeting on 12 May”.
