Eleven UK higher education institutions have retained the HR Excellence in Research Award from the European Commission, after passing external assessments.
The announcement was made by careers organisation Vitae on 28 May, and brings the number of UK institutions that have passed the four-year external review stage to 21.
The award, which was first given to UK institutions in 2011, rewards those that take measures to improve working conditions and the career development of their research staff. The award is held by 226 European institutions, of which 91 are UK institutions.
