Universities on three continents join to tackle global problems

King’s College London, Arizona State University and the University of New South Wales have launched an alliance to address global challenges through collaborative research and online higher education programmes.

Speaking to Research Fortnight at the launch event of the Plus Alliance, held in London on 9 February, Ian Jacobs, the president and vice-chancellor of the University of New South Wales, said that the group of three research-led universities planned to work with other institutions in the developing world.

“This is an English-speaking alliance between universities in three continents, but it is not just about English-speaking people or about those three countries,” he said. “It intends to be a global alliance that works with people from many countries around the world.”
