University College London (UCL) and the universities of Oxford and Cambridge will receive the most government block-grant research income in England in 2017-18, and Cardiff University will get the most in Wales.
The Higher Education Funding Council for England’s funding allocations for English universities, published on 9 June, show that the golden-triangle universities have once again secured the top spots for research and for total recurrent income.
UCL is the biggest winner in overall recurrent grant income, with £182 million, up from £176m last year. Oxford once again is in second place with £162m, up from £160m, and Cambridge in third with £145m, up from £143m.
