‘Old friends’ UK and Australia moot joint academic visa

British and Australian university leaders have held talks on how to increase bilateral relations through academia and research as Brexit approaches.

The vice-chancellors group Universities UK hosted a meeting attended by leaders of seven universities, together with UK government officials;, Alexander Downer, Australia’s high commissioner to the UK and representatives of Universities Australia, Universities UK and Universities Scotland.

A reciprocal visa for academics was discussed during the meeting, which was held in London on 25 May.
