Warwick vice-chancellor to lead equality body

Stuart Croft, vice-chancellor of the University of Warwick, has been appointed chairman of the board of trustees of the Equality Challenge Unit, the UK's higher-education equality body.

Croft will take up his post on 6 July, taking over from Janet Beer, the vice-chancellor of the University of Liverpool, who since late May has been a member of the equality and diversity panel for the next Research Excellence Framework.

Among Croft’s responsibilities will be to lead the ECU’s work on the Athena SWAN charter, which was established in 2005 to advance gender equality in universities.
