The UK's Higher Education Statistics Agency has announced plans to collect extra data on university governing bodies in the annual staff record submitted by institutions.
The move will see universities in England, Scotland and Wales submit details of their governors’ gender identity, disability, highest qualification held, nationality, religion and sexual orientation.
The first collection of data on governors will be in the 2017-18 HESA staff record. This data collection opens in August 2018, with results available from January 2019.
