Oxford academic resigns over Trump donation

A political scientist has resigned from the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government over claims that the oligarch after whom the school is named has also provided financial backing to Donald Trump, president of the United States.

Bo Rothstein resigned in protest after finding that Leonard Blavatnik—whose £75-million donation in 2010 was used to set up the school—had made a donation to Trump’s inauguration.

In his resignation letter, Rothstein said Trump’s policies were ”antithetical to the goal of the Blavatnik School of Government, which aims to improve the quality of government and public policymaking worldwide, so that citizens can enjoy more secure and more fulfilled lives”.
