Head of proposed higher-education agency named

The agency to be created by merging the Equality Challenge Unit, the Higher Education Academy and the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education will be led by the chief executive of the foundation, Alison Johns.

The three agencies will be merged into the as yet unnamed agency by September 2018 and entrusted with providing strategic and developmental support for universities, and promoting equality, diversity, learning and teaching.

Johns, who was appointed head of the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education in 2014, has also worked as director of leadership, governance and management policy at the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
