The University of Birmingham has extended its partnership with the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre ahead of the UK’s departure from the European Union on 29 March 2019.
The university has had a collaboration agreement in place with the JRC, which provides independent scientific advice and support to EU policymakers, since 2014.
A spokesman for the university said the agreement has initially been extended to March 2019. The institution hopes to extend it further until the end of the proposed Brexit transition in December 2020. At this point, the university intends to continue its collaboration with the JRC through third-country arrangements, he said.
