The University and College Union has urged its members to back the latest offer made by university leaders to help resolve a dispute over proposed pension reforms.
UCU members will vote on the evening of 6 April on a proposal put forward by the vice-chancellors’ group Universities UK on 23 March. The employers proposed setting up an independent panel to review the valuation used to make decisions about contributions and benefits in the Universities Superannuation Scheme.
The proposal would maintain existing USS contributions and benefits until at least April 2019, and guarantee that the USS remains a defined benefit scheme rather than changing to a defined contribution scheme.
