Birmingham in talks with Chinese university to form data centre

The University of Birmingham and China’s Southeast University, in the eastern city of Nanjing, are discussing the creation of a joint research institute on biomedical engineering and big data.

The research institute, whose location remains unknown, would “lead to high-quality research that has global impact”, according to David Eastwood, the vice-chancellor of the University of Birmingham.

Representatives from both universities met in Birmingham recently to discuss opportunities for closer collaboration, according to a press release dated 27 April.
