The long-awaited NHS long-term plan is expected to be published in January. Medical research organisations and charities are hoping the plan will make it easier for clinicians to conduct research. Industry and government will start to implement the second life sciences sector deal, which includes a pledge to invest £1.3 billion in UK life sciences.
The Medical Research Council will hire a clinical director, while the Nuffield Council for Bioethics will replace some of its council members as their terms come to an end. Potential council members have until 28 January to apply.
