The general secretary of the University and College Union, Sally Hunt, has resigned on health grounds following a period of absence.
Hunt’s resignation comes after she took a step back from her role in October 2018. A spokesman for the UCU confirmed that its national executive committee would start the process for choosing her successor on 1 March.
In a message to UCU members and staff on 25 February, Hunt wrote: “UCU is and will continue to be a great union; a reflection of its truly wonderful membership who contribute so much to the culture, politics and economy of this country.
