Strikes restart over pay and pensions

Staff walk out at more than 70 universities

Fourteen days of strike action began at universities across the UK on 20 February, almost two years after staff first walked out over changes to the Universities Superannuation Scheme pension.

As they began, Jo Grady, general secretary of the University and College Union, said there was “solid support” for the strikes, and that universities “should have been working with us to try and sort things out” before the action started “instead of focusing on silly games and spinning”.
