Universities ‘slow’ to act on gender pay

Research Fortnight analysis shows pay gap is gradually closing at Russell Group institutions

Universities have come under fire for the slow pace of change in their gender pay gaps, following the release of the latest data on how much more men earn than women.

According to an analysis by Research Fortnight, in the three years that gender pay gap reporting has been mandatory for universities in England and Wales, the median pay gap among Russell Group institutions has decreased by 1.7 percentage points and the mean by 1.5 percentage points.
