Karen O’Brien named next Durham vice-chancellor

Literature scholar from Oxford to replace Stuart Corbridge in 2022

Karen O’Brien, who leads the Humanities Division at the University of Oxford, has been named as the next vice-chancellor of Durham University.

O’Brien (pictured) will become Durham’s 25th vice-chancellor when she joins the university on 4 January 2022. She will succeed Stuart Corbridge, who will retire on 31 July 2021 after six years in the role.
