Free speech ‘at the heart’ of UK universities

University and student groups set out stance on free speech ahead of Lords committee hearing

Vice-chancellors have stressed that universities already take their responsibilities for promoting academic freedom seriously, ahead of the free speech bill’s return to the House of Lords later today.

University leaders said free speech and academic freedom “sit at the heart of the UK’s higher education sector” in a 31 October statement signed by five groups representing universities and students.
