Narrow OfS focus on outcomes ‘presents challenges for access’

Higher Education Conference hears concerns from MillionPlus group of modern universities

The Office for Students’ “narrow” focus on student outcomes presents “challenges for the access agenda”, a conference has heard.

Speaking at the Higher Education Conference in London on 20 October, Rachel Hewitt, chief executive of the MillionPlus group of modern universities, said that regulation by the OfS had “come with quite a significant focus on outcomes”, which—although important—means that “we’ve lost some of the conversation around the student journey”.
