Industrial action looms over potential job losses

Up to 140 jobs could be cut at Birkbeck, University of London, as the institution grapples with a “challenging economic environment”.

The university confirmed on 1 November that 140 roles could be lost, representing around 10 per cent of all jobs at Birkbeck. A spokesperson for the university said some of those roles “are already vacant or will become so as staff retire or leave over the next few months”.
