Covid ‘boosted research presence, but not understanding’

   

Survey of thousands of researchers reveals widespread online abuse of scientists

Nearly two-thirds of scientists globally believe that the coronavirus pandemic bolstered public attention to research—but it did not increase their understanding.

A survey of 3,000 scientists around the world, conducted by Economist Impact and Elsevier, found that 63 per cent feel the Covid-19 pandemic brought scientists more into the limelight but that it did not result in more widespread understanding of their work.
