The retiring University of Liverpool vice-chancellor Janet Beer on four decades in academia
If Research Fortnight were to list in full all the higher education roles that Janet Beer has held since completing her PhD in 1983, there would be no room here for anything else.
Currently vice-chancellor of the University of Liverpool and a board member at a range of sector bodies, Beer has at various points in her career been president of Universities UK, chair of University Alliance and held positions at the Inner London Education Authority, the Quality Assurance Agency, the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education, the National Student Survey and the Fulbright Commission, to name but a few.
