Horizon and Euratom funding

The UK has announced £484 million to mitigate pressures on universities and research organisations caused by the ongoing delays to participation in EU R&D funding programmes. Science minister George Freeman said the UK “cannot wait forever” as the EU continues to block its association to programmes such as Horizon Europe and the nuclear research initiative Euratom. “The government remains ready to discuss association with the EU,” Freeman said on 21 November as he was announcing the funding. “This immediate investment will help protect our world class research talent and infrastructure so key to the UK’s reputation as a science superpower.”
