Ucas policy director highlights huge rise in applicants interested in apprenticeships

The UK has reached a “tipping point” where the value of apprenticeships is near parity with traditional degrees, according to the policy director of university admissions service Ucas.

In a blog post for the Higher Education Policy Institute (Hepi), John Cope relayed figures suggesting almost half of next year’s Ucas applicants could apply for an apprenticeship instead of, or as well as, a university course in 2023.
