British and Australian universities pledge greater cooperation

Russell Group and Group of Eight will set up joint committee to increase research collaboration

Universities in the UK and Australia have pledged to increase research collaboration in a bid to support economic growth and boost trade between the two countries.

In a letter to the Australian and British foreign and trade ministers, the Russell Group and the Group of Eight—which represent research-intensive universities in the UK and Australia, respectively—said they would establish a committee to look at ways to ramp up research collaboration.
