University says redundancies must stay on the table as it struggles with multi-million pound deficit
Three weeks of strike action have begun at Goldsmiths, University of London in a dispute over staff redundancies at the institution.
The university previously announced 46 job losses as part of plans to reduce a sizeable deficit. In response, staff affiliated with the University and College Union started the first in a series of walk outs on 7 February. They will also take part in a wider national pay and pension disputes strike planned by UCU later this month, following on from previous strikes in 2019 (pictured).
