Move follows criticism from some staff over the university’s involvement with UAE

The University of Birmingham has officially opened its satellite campus in the United Arab Emirates.

Work on the Dubai campus, which has capacity to host 4,500 students, began in 2019. It was originally due to open in 2021 but was delayed partly due to Covid-19, although students have been working on campus since January.
