OfS chair criticised for CPAC conference appearance

UCU and Union of Jewish Students among those voicing concerns

The University and College Union is among those criticising chair of the Office for Students, Conservative peer James Wharton, after he addressed a conference in Hungary that gave a platform to people who have previously expressed antisemitic and racist views.

Wharton sent a video message to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Budapest, in which he appeared to endorse the recent election victory of Viktor Orbán, who was re-elected as Hungary’s prime minister last month.
