Record number of students complain to university watchdog

Office of the Independent Adjudicator also reports record levels of compensation payments in 2021

The Office of the Independent Adjudicator received a record number of student complaints in 2021, its annual report has revealed.

Some 2,763 complaints were received by the OIA last year, up 6 per cent increase on 2020—which was also a record-breaking year. Issues arising from the coronavirus pandemic accounted for 37 per cent of the complaints received by the OIA in 2021.
